M.I. 5: Escape from ASCII Island™
The Monkey Island games have been among my all-time favourites since the very first part of the series. 2009 on April — before Tales of Monkey Island was announced — I spontaneously decided to produce a homage in form of a text adventure. I took a WordPress plugin I could adapt to my purposes and launched Escape from ASCII Island™ (German) a couple of days later.
A few months after that, I @wondered whether Boris Schneider-Johne would be willing to translate the game into English. In case you didn’t know, Boris translated a number of titles for Lucasfilm Games between 1987 and 1992, among them Monkey Island 1 und 2. I wasn’t really expecting an answer, but only five minutes later I reveiced a DM via Twitter, and after a brief exchange of e-mails, Boris agreed. As a result, I’m very happy to present the English version of “Monkey Island 5: Escape from ASCII Island™“.

You can play the game with the traditional text adventure vocabulary: examine, open, take, use, use x with y and lots (seriously, lots) more. Have fun, ye lousy pirates!
